Alison Cousins: taking a brother to courtJehovah's Witnesses believe that they should not take another member of their church to court.
1 Corinthians 6:1, 5
"Does anyone of You that has a case against the other dare to go to court before unrighteous men, and not before the holy ones?"
"I am speaking to move You to shame. Is it true that there is not one wise man among You that will be able to judge between his brothers, but brother goes to court with brother, and that before unbelievers?"
Alison's story
Alison Cousins grew up in the small Ayrshire town of Stevenson, just outside Glasgow, where her parents were active members of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
When she told the elders of her local congregation that her father was abusing her they told her they would deal with it.
They did nothing however, and eventually she went to the police.
Her father was imprisoned for five years.
Alison told Panorama:
"They told me that one of the scriptures in the Bible was that you should never take your brother to court.
"And I said to them: 'well what are you meant to do then if he's doing something wrong?'
"And they said: 'Come to us and we'll deal with it'.
"I said to them: 'Well I've already spoken to you and you've told me I'm a liar'.
"I ended up having to go to the police because they were the only people that I thought would believe me."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However, victimization is MORE pronounced in the Witness religion than elsewhere because of twisted scriptures! At least in the ‘world’ you take somebody to court to get satisfaction for being wronged and there is also not the expectation that you are there to ‘tolerate’ it - unlike the sick and dysfunctional Witness religion where they imagine somebody is!
Watchtower November 15, 1973: "And by dragging fellow believers before pagan judges, they would bring great reproach upon God’s name. As outsiders would be led to believe that Christians were no different from other people in being unable to settle differences, the interests of true worship would be injured. It would have been far better for individual Christians to take personal loss rather than to injure the entire congregation by bringing their disputes to public notice."

My, my. So many who perceive that they may have been wronged. Didn't the lord and savior Jesus Christ counsel to remove the rafter from your own eye so you could see how to remove the (tiny) straw from your brothers eye? And what about let the one without sin cast the first stone. I must be in good company here as so many of you are perfect.
2 Jesus said that his true disciples would be clearly identifiable if they showed the same sort of love that he displayed. That statement was true in the first century, and it is true today. How important it is that we overcome any challenges and show love for one another!
4 Jesus taught us the importance of making peace with a brother who has something against us. (Read Matthew 5:23, 24.) He emphasized that we need to maintain good relations with others if we are to please God. Jehovah is happy when we do our best to make peace with our brothers. He will not accept our worship if we hang on to resentment and refuse even to try to make peace.—1 John 4:20.
JTottigy: After reading your 15 posts, it looks like you are either a Jehovah's Witness who is lost or just trying to stir up members on this site!
Please read paragraphs 2 and 4 and you will see that Jehovah's Witness are not clearly identified as true disciples, nor does Jehovah accept their worship.
If you still attend meetings ask yourself:
Have I seen verbal fights among members?
Have I seen promotions or demotions due to favoritism/nepotism?
Are Elders children protected/forgiven more than other children in the congregation?
Has anyone ever left or changed congregations due to refusing to get along or make peace with another member?
Are their alcoholics, adulterers, thieves, or pedophiles still inside your local congregation?
Jesus said that his true disciples would be clearly identifiable if they showed the same sort of love that he displayed.

STUDY ARTICLE 13
Love One Another Intensely
If we have intense “love for the whole association of brothers,” we will avoid being partial (See paragraphs 12-13) *
This photo in the article pretends to be a dramatization. Believe me,this is your typical scene in every Kingdom Hall. No actors were used in this dramatization!
The local Kingdom Halls are full of cliques. Elders talking with fellow Elders before, during and after meetings. Elder wives who wait for everyone to approach them and not the other way around. Teens have their own cliques. Married couples have their own cliques. Pioneers are worshipped at the meetings and assemblies. Circuit and District Overseers are treated like movie stars.
This study article will pass from one ear and out the other. Nothing will ever change! Another useless Watchtower study!

people thinking they aren’t going to be taken to court for defrauding/harming their ‘brother’
We had too many congregation members (who were dishonest contractors) that would cheat on labor /materials and do shoddy work for fellow brothers. Elders would always be called to resolve their disputes. Also, money loans were given out to fellow brothers and were never repaid.
One Elder lent his Jehovah's Witness son-in-law money to start a heating and air-conditioning business and had a hard time getting his money back. They waited years to settle their dispute because neither would go to court for a solution. The ingrate son-in-law moved to another congregation after he paid the loan back.

Play20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar. For the one who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.I laughed at this article! My congregation had numerous verbal fights, witnessed a physical fight inside the Kingdom Hall where police had to be called, members who changed congregations due to demotions, members who refused to go out in field service with certain brothers and sisters, Elders talking down to someone while a meeting was in session, and Elders who would not accept other Elders children's conduct while his children could do no wrong. What did you witness in your congregation? -

this one though is in favor of the fact that man doesn't HAVE a soul but, instead IS a living soul just like the animals as Genesis says, and can die not live on.You state that you have knowledge and facts that man doesn't have a soul, but is a living soul?
That statement sounds like a belief to me! Tell us some facts that prove that statement?

being only 6, i have only the vaguest of memories other than an old man shouting and bawling from the stage.

Leo Greenless, W. Glen How, Nathan H. Knorr, Percy Chapman
Governing Body member Leo K. Greenlees was forced to resign and leave Bethel in late 1984. Greenlees was allegedly convicted by the rest of the Governing Body of molesting a ten-year-old boy.
Around 1978-79, my family and I went to a local High School auditorium in a suburb of Chicago to hear Governing Body member Leo Greenless give a talk and slide presentation. The auditorium was full of Jehovah's Witnesses who were going to meet the Jehovah's Witnesses version of the Pope. A slide presentation about the conditions of the world was presented. Very informative if you wore rose-colored glasses.
After the ending prayer, long lines formed in the front of the auditorium to meet and greet the POPE. We waited in line and got to meet Mr. Greenless. ( Now I know how Catholics feel when they talk and touch the Pope) We were so excited to meet Mr. Greenless.
Little did we know that Leo Greenless was living a secret life and that the Watchtower Society was just a human organization disguising themselves as God's earthly organization!

It is true the police sometimes get it wrong. It is true that sometimes prosecutors successfully litigate innocent people.
Exactly true! There are many prisoners who are exonerated of their crimes.
I would hope there is an eye witness to the Murder, which often there is not.
That is why you cannot execute anyone just because police and prosecutors present a strong case.
We will always have crime and violence, but we can certainly reduce it to a rarity.
True!
The death penalty will never deter crime. People who commit crimes never think they will be caught.

Death Penalty in the US Facts, Statistics and Pros and Cons
“About 52% of death row inmates are Black or other minority, versus 17% in the general population”. (The death Penalty, Capital punishment) These statistics again confirms the misuse of death penalty. In a country like United States, most of the people punished for capital punishment belong to the minority community. This is not because of the excess crime committed by the minority community. In fact the majority public is committing more crimes compared to the minorities, but most of them escape from laws because of their influences upon the criminal judicial system and also the dual standards adopted by the government against the same crime committed by majority and minority public. Thus death sentence is a powerful weapon in the hands of the government to execute their hidden agendas. Even in front of the law, people are discriminated.
